Costa Rica

The large stone in this piece was given to me by my youngest daughter. She was on a trip with her older sister and her sister’s boyfriend to Costa Rica. My kids know that the thing that pleases my heart most is to get stones from places they visit.
They loved the country of Costa Rica. They particularly loved the monkeys. The variety of colorful birds and butterflies was also high on their list. All of them plan to go back someday.
While they were there my oldest daughter was surprised that her boyfriend asked her to marry him. He knelt down and asked her during a beautiful sunset on the beach. He placed a gorgeous ring on her hand and I got a phone call not long afterward. When they got home they brought a rock from their trip. That was 10 years ago. I save important rocks for just the right piece of artwork. This time it is the crown of this sculpture. Since I believe that my children are my crowning achievement it was fitting that this rock from Costa Rica from such a happy time should crown my artwork.
